The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) in Adelaide provides a wide range of metabolomic analyses from global fingerprinting to fully targeted metabolite analysis. AWRI has a platform designed to detect metabolites from several chemical classes and sample matrices. It is committed to developing and providing analyses on a broad range of biological species, with particular expertise in microbial organisms, volatile secondary metabolites, sensometabolomics and the food and beverage industry.
The AWRI facility offers:
- Metabolomics analysis using LC, GC and high-resolution mass spectrometry in combination with advanced data handling techniques
- Methods development for targeted and non-targeted analysis of volatile and non-volatile metabolites
- Bio-prospecting
- High resolution, accurate mass measurement
- Multivariate data analysis and visualization of results
Applications include:
- Detecting and characterizing perturbation in metabolism
- Discrimination and classification of phenotypes
- Identification of quality markers for plant and animal breeding and food and beverage production
- Identifying unique biomarkers for human health and disease
- Annotation of gene function
- Environmental toxicology and chemical risk assessment
